As part of our ongoing commitment to catalyze the spread and understand the impact of learner-centered education and ecosystems, we are excited to share our 2024–2029 research agenda—designed to shape and guide our next level of exploration and discovery.
Since our founding, we have prioritized learning from the field of learner-centered practitioners, sharing their insights with our broader community. In recognizing the need for formalized data and research to substantiate these efforts, we introduced our research team earlier this year, led by Domonique Edwards, Ph.D., and Khara Schonfeld-Karan, Ph.D.
Over this year, our team has worked diligently to craft an intentional research agenda, which will guide our research activities over the coming years. This agenda highlights our focus on generating evidence-based insights to build the field of learner-centered education and catalyze the development of learner-centered ecosystems across the United States.
Some of the key areas of research include:
- exploring the theoretical and practical evidence behind learner-centered education,
- investigating how learner-centered ecosystems emerge, function, and sustain themselves, and
- examining the impact of learner-centered education and ecosystems on learners, educators, and communities.
Our research will not only enhance our understanding of what it takes for learner-centered environments and ecosystems to thrive, but it will also provide invaluable insights to the education innovation community, funders, policy enablers, and practitioners. We believe this work will help fuel new collaborations and the support needed to advance public education transformation.
This marks a significant step in our collective commitment to building and sustaining a learner-centered education movement that is grounded in evidence and innovation. Together, we are co-creating a future where every learner is seen, heard, and supported to discover their gifts in a caring community and build lives of their choosing.
