The State Education Agency’s Role in Supporting Equitable Student-Centered Learning

The learner-centered movement is powered by a ground-up, top-enabled network of action and support.

When innovation zones were created in Minnesota, it provided a remarkable opportunity for local efforts to not only accelerate their own work but to also begin spreading their knowledge and resources to other communities without state-mandated barriers preventing others to explore transformational opportunities.

Recognizing the role state education agency’s play in directing the education ship, CCSSO has published an actionable guide titled: The State Education Agency’s Role in Supporting Equitable Student-Centered Learning. The guide highlights the opportunity before us “to create transformative learning environments that expand access to meaningful relationships, promote deeper learning, enable student agency, and encourage exploration of identity.” And, most importantly, provides four actionable steps to lead transformation in your respective state.
